Craniosacral Therapy is one of our most popular treatments at the clinic. It is a very gentle relaxing treatment which involves the patient lying on a couch fully clothed with the practitioner gently in contact. It can be beneficial for almost any condition as it works with the body’s own inherent healing systems.

Is Craniosacral Therapy suitable for everyone?

Yes. It is suitable for men and women of all ages, babies, and children too. It is a safe treatment to have during pregnancy and also for people who are terminally ill.

Craniosacral therapy can help those who suffer from chronic pain conditions, structural problems though to emotional ones. Long-term problems (which many people think of as part of their normal health) can be eased through this approach. For those who cannot have a normal massage, it can be a great way to achieve relaxation and unwinding, without the physical manipulation of the body.

What does Craniosacral Therapy involve?

The therapy involves palpating the natural cranial sacral rhythm in the body. This is the rate of expansion and contraction of the cerebral spinal fluid which flows around the brain and spinal cord feeding and protecting it. The practitioner also palpates for restrictions in the central nervous system, bones, fluids, and tissues.

Areas of restriction can be caused by physical as well as emotional incidences which inhibit this flow. Through discussion, Rod is able to identify the root issues. When these are brought into focus and integrated back into the person’s healthy responses, the client can have long-term release from the symptoms that have been occurring since the event.

Through the gentle approach of Craniosacral Therapy, the body and mind are assisted in getting to a relaxed and safe state of being. From this safe state, the person’s system can recognise the restrictions and repercussions caused by the event. The system can then let go of that fixed reaction.

Does stress affect our health and wellbeing?

The stresses and strains of life can lead to certain conditions or patterns that the body goes to in order to deal with the strain. Craniosacral Therapy can also be a good way of getting back to a calmer healthier way of being that can reset these patterns. Whilst we cannot escape the pressures of life we can react to them in different ways.

Rod is available for appointments at the clinic on a Tuesday, in some cases home visits can be arranged. There’s always a warm welcome for you at Chichester Natural Health Centre, our reception is covered six days a week. Please call 01243 786946 to book in or to find out more.
